Chaperone Requirements

Participants ages 18-25 are welcome and encouraged to attend YOUTH 2000 - OSHKOSH.
The only paperwork required for participants ages 18-25 is the Liability Release Form and Registration Form.

IF, however,  there are plans for an individual who is 18-25 to ALSO play a role of responsibility at YOUTH 2000 as a volunteer or chaperoning someone (a chaperone must be age 21+) - please see the following information.

NOTE:  Any adult who is playing a role of responsibility for anyone under the age of 18 or assisting at the retreat (i.e. Chaperones, Youth Ministers, Guardians and Volunteers for food prep, door management, etc. AND attending Youth 2000 Retreat) must fulfill and be in CURRENT compliance with their Diocesan policies and requirements for providing a safe and secure environment for minors by completing any Diocesan required training and a current criminal background check. See the Safe Environment section of the this web site, under Registration.

All Adults who are playing a role of responsibility must complete the Liability Release and Registration Form and be in compliance with any Safe Environment requirements.  Those chaperones arriving at the Youth 2000 Retreat who have not submitted the required documentation or whose names cannot be verified as being in current compliance in the Safe Environment database of the Diocese of Green Bay will NOT be admitted to the Retreat. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Chaperones are adults age 21 and over who arrive with, attend with, stay with and are responsible for their youth during the Retreat.

Parent/guardian assumes the responsibility for finding a chaperone. Parents are welcome as chaperones for their children. Youth/young people are anyone attending the Retreat who is 17 or younger.  Each youth must have a designated chaperone named on their Registration Form.

Parents who wish to attend with their child are welcomed and encouraged to do so - however may not chaperone other youth unless there is full compliance with all Safe Environment policies.

We require a minimum of 1 chaperone for every 8 minors.   The chaperones should include a male chaperone for male youth and a female chaperone for female youth. Chaperones need to be at least 21 years old and need to be Virtus trained as well as to have passed background checks and all other Save Environment guidelines.

Members of the Diocese of Green Bay must be fully compliant and CURRENT with the SAFE ENVIRONMENT certification process required by the Diocese of Green Bay, including completion of all Diocesan required steps of the Safe Environment Screening procedure.  A letter on appropriate letterhead or documentation from your parish or the Diocese stating that you are in compliance with all Safe Environment requirements pertaining to the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People would be sufficient.
